The location may be the most important factor for business success. Choosing a poor location can take your business right to fail.
The type of business you are starting.

Does the business offer products or services?
Do customers want the business or business looking for customers?
Do customers arrive by car or on foot?
What kind of place is best for your business?
Your customers are low class or high?

Answering these questions will help you filter the type of location you need for your business.
Every business is different.

Choosing a good location will depend on the type of business you want to undertake. Some businesses are more successful if these are on the edge of street. For example, the florist business and video stores.

Other businesses do not need a good location. For example, companies that provide plumbing services cleaning services as employees move into the homes of their clients.

Before deciding to buy or rent land is important to investigate more about the area. In the event that there are similar businesses that you want to start then it is good to know how well or poorly they are doing.

For example for an auto shop to be located street side is better because potential clients are transported in vehicles.

For a business selling clothes to be located in the center of the city or in a shopping center will be better because potential customers are people who walk on foot.

Clearly describe what services you sell or offer: pets, flowers, donuts, travel, gifts, soccer fields.

Find out how close you have competition. Who are the owners and they do in their business.

The main benefit of being located away from the competition is not to compete both for the customers. Yet placed near the competition also has its advantages, the main one is that you can create a “business area”. This means that an area is composed of similar businesses.

I’ll give an example: In the city of La Ceiba (Honduras) there is a place called “the living area.” Here are many bars and nightclubs. If someone wants to open a club wish to place on the “living zone” despite the existence of dozens of other similar businesses.

There are other important points to consider. For example, there is the issue of parking. There are businesses that require a broad and others do not require much space.

Also the issue of operating permits and licenses. They are different permits for a fast food business to one that sells accessories for mobile phones.
